Rites Today For Russell

Last rites were held today for William S. Russell, 51, of Ottumwa who died Monday, Nov. 15, at 12:30 p.m. at Veteran Hospital in Des Moines.

The funeral was today at 1:30 p.m. at the Reece Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Brown officiating. Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa. Masonic services were also held.

The son of Gaylord and Minnie E. Freeberg Russell, he was born May 20, 1925 in Ottumwa. He served in the medical division during World War II and was a prisoner in that war.

He was employed at the Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Co., as chief credit manager. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 16, Davenport Consistory, Disabled Veterans, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Russell was married to Jean Sellers on July 19, 1945. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, David William of Bloomfield; two daughters, Mrs. Beverly Reams of Monroe, Wis., and Mrs. Carroll Leinhauser of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren; his father, Gaylord Russell of Fairfield; one sister, Mrs. Paul Snelling of Fairfield and one brother, James of rural Douds.

He is also survived by his stepmother, eight stepbrothers and three stepsisters. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1952.
