EUGENE RAYMOND JOHNSTON

Eugene R. Johnston, 59, a retired Kirkville farmer, died at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mahaska County Hospital.

He was born January 25, 1923, at the home of Ernest and Margaret Newell Johnston. He lived in the Kirkville community all of his life. He was past master and M.I. and D.I. of Formal Lodge No. 442 AF & AM. He was a past patron of Order of the Eastern Star No. 99 of Eddyville, and a member of Clinton Chapter No. 9, Council No. 31 and Commandery No. 31. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Arendt-Bowlin-Stubbs Post of the Hedrick American Legion. On May 8, 1952, he was married to Patricia Kerr of Bonaparte in Ottumwa.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Leslie Fulton of Oskaloosa and Nancy Nancock of Parkersbury; two grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Jane Wellman of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
