John C. Schulz, age 90, retired Stockport businessman of 60 years, passed away Thursday, May 6, 1982, at the Good Samaritan Home in Keosauqua.

He was born January 5, 1982 in Van Buren County, the son of Herman and Violeta Schulz. He was married on October 20, 1914, at Stockport to Hazelle Fickel. She survives as well as six daughters and a son: Wanda Adams of Florida, Joan Wolf of New London, Melba Morrow of Stockport, Barbara Pettyjohn and Shirley Criswell, both of El Paso, Texas, Karen Burns of Toledo, Ohio, and Donald Schulz of Tucson, Arizona. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A daughter and two sons are deceased.

Mr. Schulz was a member of the United Methodist Church, Past Master and 50-year member of Workman Lodge #632 of Stockport, Past Commander of the El Canon Commandery of Keosauqua, chapter member of the White Shrine of Fairfield.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 10th, at the Stockport United Methodist Church with Rev. David Kennedy and Rev. Richard Devore officiating. Interment with Masonic graveside rites was in Spencer Cemetery.

Memorials to the Van Buren County Historical Society may be left at the Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham.
