RALPH T. DODSON

Ralph T. Dodson, 63, 3402 Avenue O, died at 2:05 a.m. Sunday, January 17, at the University Hospital, Iowa City. He had been ill 1 1/s months.

Mr. Dodson was born October 22, 1918, in Fort Madison and was a lifelong local resident. He was a retired Santa Fe railroad carman with 38 years service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church and the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America. He served with the Navy in World War II.

On April 20, 1938, at Farmington, he married Cecilia Bergthold, who survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Ben of Montrose, Ralph J. of Camanche, Iowa, Robert of Springfield, Missouri and Raymond of Fort Madison; three daughters, Mrs. James (Carol) Holtkamp, St. Paul, Iowa, Mrs. Ralph (Doris) Kassmeyer, West Point, and Mrs. David (Betty) Ballard, Farmington; a brother, Leland Dodson, Camanche; and 25 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. His parents were James A. and Viola Pezley Dodson.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, at the Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. LeRoy Bergthold and Rev. Robert Amborn officiating. Burial was in Soldiers' Circle of Oakland cemetery. King-Lynk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established with the Education Endowment Fund of Sacred Heart Church. Contributions may be made at the King-Lynk Funeral Home.
