CLARENCE BATES

Clarence Bates, age 91, former Birmingham resident passed away Monday, August 24, 1981 at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, in Keosauqua.

He was born in Jefferson County June 7, 1890, the son of Jerry and Winna Anderson Bates. He was married Oitober(err) 24, 1908 at Fairfield to Florence Bailey. She preceded him in death August 11, 1977.

He is survived by two dauphers(err), Mrs. Bernice Hird of Oakaloosa and Mrs. Henretto Helfaenstine, Peoria, Ariz. six grandchildren, 11 great, grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Bates were held Wednesday August 26, 1981 at the Burch Funeral HOme with Rev. David R. Kennedy officiating.

Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa.
