HUBERT HOWARD HAMILTON

Hubert Howard Hamilton, 88, of Ft. Madison, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 10:45 p.m. at Ft. Madison Community Hospital.

He was born Oct. 11, 1892, at New Boston, Iowa, the son of Winfield Scott and Melvina Bassett Hamilton.

He married Edna Josephine Anson on June 18, 1913, at Ottumwa, Iowa. He had lived in Ft. Madison 55 years and was a retired Santa Fe Railroad employee with 50 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Hubert A., Palatine, ill.; Howard Dale, Ft. Madison, and Rev. Keith E. Hamilton, Wayland; a daughter, Mrs. Vernon (Eunice) Fish, Farmington; a brother, Clarence Hamilton, Keokuk; a sister, Mrs. Ada Jacobson, Baton Rouge, La.; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in in death were his wife, four sisters, and two grandchildren.

The funeral was held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Ft. Madison. The Rev. Duane Churchman and Eugene Smith officiated. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. The family received friends at the King-Lynk Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 Friday evening. Memorials have been established at the First United Methodist Church and the Nazarene Church at Ft. Madison.
