HAZEL M. HANCOCK

Hazel M. Hancock, 84, of Farmington, died Friday, August 8, at 4:55 p.m. in Keokuk Area West Hospital.

The daughter of James and Mae Griswold Vermazen, she was born Dec. 17, 1896 at Charleston, Iowa.

She married Bryan Hancock on January 19, 1918 at Keokuk. They moved to Farmington from Argyle in 1973.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Farmington, the United Methodist Women, Homemakers Club and Senior Citizens.

Surviving are five sons: Gilbert of Farmington, Howard of Argyle, Ralph of Bridgeton, Mo., Gene of Longview, Texas, and James of Pampa, Texas; three daughters: Ruth Petty of Farmington, Mrs. Wayne (Vava) Clark of Batavia, Iowa, and Mrs. Joseph (Miriam) Madrid of Lawrence, Kansas; two brothers: Ernest Vemazen of Fayette, Iowa, Roger Vermazen of Keokuk; three sisters: Helen Wahrer of Argyle, Lois Holdefer and Nadine Gedney of Ft. Madison; 32 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, two grandsons and two brothers.

The funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 31 in the United Methodist Church, Farmington. The Rev. Jim Rozendaal officiated. Burial was in the Charleston Cemetery. The Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, was in charge of arrangements.
