Obituary
GEORGIA MARIE DAVIS

Georgia Marie Davis was born on the 24th day of April in 1903. She passed away on the evening of the 24th of February, 1981 at her home in Stockport, Iowa.

Georgia was born and raised on the family farm that her grandfather homesteaded in 1838, located five miles north of Batavia, Iowa. She was the daughter of Edmond Harrison and Nellie Wrenshell Smith Hudson. They preceded her in death, her father on July 27, 1953 and her mother on July 4, 1961. Georgia was married first to Harley Lawrence McGuire in Wapello County, Ia. March 13, 1922. Her second marriage was to Leomar Bryon Davis February, 24, 1932 at Lancaster, Mo. Their 49th wedding anniversary would have been the day she passed away. He preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1961.

Georgia is survived by two daughters Alberta Ruby McGuire Graham of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Donamontha Davis Hupp of Libertyville, Ia. Also one step-daughter, Alta Lavere Davis Phillips of Creve Care, Ill. and one son Kenneth Leomar Davis of Stockport, Iowa.

She is also survived by one brother, Dewey Hudson, one sister, Jessie Prince, both of Batavia, Iowa, and 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren.

Georgia and her husband farmed in the Wapello County, Iowa area. Georgia received her education at Hickory Ridge Schol(err) north of Batavia, and obtained her High School education by correspondence. She received her nursing license in 1947 and at the age of 69 when many are thinking of retirement, Georgia completed courses for special nursing for home care from Indian Hills Community College.

Georgia became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in August of 1957 in Ottumwa, Iowa. She held numerous offices in the Ottumwa Ward Relief Society and later had Dist. Responsibilities. Her membership was transferred to the Keosauqua Ward in August 1980. Georgia and her daughter were active in genealogical research for the past 35 years. Georgia was very proud of her family, especially her grandchildren and kept their pictures on display in her home.
