ROSEY D. VAN PATTEN

Rosey D. Van Patten, 55, of Ukiah, California, died Wednesday, July 1, 1981, at 5:15 a.m. in the University Hospitals, Iowa City.

She was the daughter of David and Betty Jones Krouse and was born March 5, 1926 at Luray, Mo.

She married Lloyd Van Patten on November 2, 1943 at Memphis, Mo.

They moved to California from Bonaparte in 1961.

She was a member of the Southern Baptist church at Hopland, California.

Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Patricia Stanberry of Adin, California; two sons, Gary Van Patten of Redway, California, and Larry Van Patten of Middletown, California; six sisters, Mrs. Cecil Shearer, Mrs. Warren Martin, both of Farmington, Mrs. Raymond Hitt, and Mrs. Bud Carroll, both of Medil, Mo., Irene Smith of Des Moines, and Mrs. John Butler of Luray, Mo.; eleven grand children.

Preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers and one sister.

The funeral was at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Bonaparte Baptist church. Pastor Bob Dodds officiated. Burial was in the Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington. The Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, was in charge of arrangements.

Woman jumps from motor home and dies

CANTRIL - A California woman, who apparently jumped from a moving motor hone on Highway 2 near Cantril Tuesday afternoon, died during the night at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Authorities identified the woman as Rosy Van Patten, 55, of Ukaih, Calif. She was a passenger in a west bound recreational vehicle driven by her husband, Lloyd Van Patten, 62, who told authorities his wife suffered from a heart ailment and had been despondent.

Van Patten estimated his speed at 30 t0 35 miles per hour when his wife opened the passenger door and threw herself onto the pavement. She suffered severe head injuries and was unconscious at the scene. After emergency treatment at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua, she was transferred by Air Care helicopter to Iowa City.

Van Patten said the couple was en route back to Ukiah when the incident occurred about 3 p.m.
