CARL PETER SCHMITT

Carl Peter Schmitt, 81, Donnellson, RR 1, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning, December 12, at his home.

Mr. Schmitt was born September 2, 1900, in rural Farmington. A retired farmer, he was a lifelong resident of Lee county. He was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ of Donnellson, the Lee County Farm Bureau and the Harmony High School Athletic Boosters Club. He was also a former county 4-H club committee member.

On September 14, 1920, at Primrose, he married Esther Caroline Goebel, who preceded him in death on September 29, 1972.

Surviving are a son, Carl Schmitt, Jr., Farmington rural; a daughter, Mrs. Verl (Caroline) German, Silver City, New Mexico; and 10 grandchildren and a niece.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister and a grandchild. His parents were Jacob and Anna Lang Schmitt.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, in St. Paul United Church of Christ with the Rev. Donald Stoll officiating. Burial was in Primrose Cemetery.

Barr Memorial Chapel, West Point was in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established with the St. Paul United Church of Christ. Contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, West Point or the church.
