GOLDIE E. SLUTTS

Goldie E. Slutts, daughter of Frank and Josephine Dowell McDonald, was born September 14, 1892, in Keosauqua and departed this life Monday, May 4, 1981, at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa at the age of 88.

On October 21, 1906, she married John Slutts. They lived in Mt. Zion and Douds and moved to Ottumwa in 1943. Mr. Slutts died in 1953. Also preceding him in death were a son, Clayton, and three grandchildren, Donald and Larry Jameson and Glen LeRoy Slutts.

After her husband's death, she lived several years in Eddyville.

Remaining to cherish her memory are three sons, Ralph of Keokuk, Glenn of Eldon, and Kenneth of Ottumwa and two daughters, Dorothy Witt of Keosauqua and Lucille Gibson of Ottumwa. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, eight great, great-grandchildren, a half-sister, Rena Nelson of Las Vegas, Nevada, other relatives and many friends.

Mrs. Slutts was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Ottumwa and will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother and a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 6, 1981 at 2 P.M. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Rev. James Millsaps officiating. Interment was in Forbes Cemetery north of Keosauqua.

A memorial was established for the Cancer Fund.
