Mr. Elmer G. Troutman, 54, of Bonaparte rural died at Veterans hospital, Iowa City, Monday, Oct. 18 at 3:10 p.m. He had been in failing health since 1956 and a patient of the hospital two weeks.
He was born March 24, 1914, at Mt. Sterling, the son of James E. and Mary L. Totton Troutman. On Oct. 17, 1934, at Memphis, Mo., he married Gladys Cummings.

He was a member of the American Legion. From 1931-34 he served in the army, and during World War II served with the navy.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys; one son, Gerald (Bud) Troutman, Bonaparte; one daughter, Mrs. Jean Harrison, Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Joe Troutman, Wever, four sisters, Mrs. Pauline Steeples, Bonaparte; Mrs. Esther Lamborn, Farmington, Mrs. Wanda Adams, Burlington, Mrs. Mary Davis, New Hope, Minn.; and seven grandchildren. His parents and one brother died earlier.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bonaparte Presbyterian church with the Rev. Leroy Moore officiating. The body was moved from Miller's Home for funerals at Farmington to the Carl Wilson home at Bonaparte Tuesday afternoon. Burial with military rites will be in Bonaparte cemetery.
