Bessie Meier Morton

Bessie Meier Morton, 79, Bloomfield, died at 1:15 a.m. Monday at Bloomfield Manor.

She was born in Davis County on Nov. 22, 1909 to Duff and Susie Meier Rayburn. She had been a lifetime resident of Davis County. For many years, she was owner of the Bish Cafe in Pulaski and later a cook for the Davis County Community School District. She was a member of the Pulaski United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge No. 1 and W.R.C.

She married Leland Bish in June of 1928. He died in 1955. She married Leland Morton in May of 1959. He died in 1963.

Survivors include one daughter, Ritzanna Warning of Bloomfield; one son, Vern J. Bish of Oak Brook, Ill.; three sisters, Leona Hubbartt of Bloomfield, Helen McKeag of Delta and Gwen Howard of Wichita, Kan.; and two brothers, Floyd Rayburn of California and Gale Rayburn of Burlington.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Pulaski United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Fred Rowley. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service.

The casket will be taken from the Wagler Funeral Home to the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rebekah services are scheduled for Tuesday night.

A memorial has been established to the Pulaski United Methodist Church.
