JOSEPHINE V. MORRIS

Josephine V. Morris, 75, of Cantril died at 10:10 p.m. March 3, 1993, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua. She was born March 7, 1917, in Bentonsport to Paul and Lena Ellis Daughrity. She married Charles N. Morris on Nov. 28, 1942. He died Jan. 17, 1993.

She graduated from Keosauqua High School and Parsons College in Fairfield. She taught school for 39 years, including 25 years in the Cantril-Fox Valley system, retiring in 1981. She and her husband farmed near Cantril until moving to town in 1981. She was a member of Cantril United Methodist Church, Van Buren County Retired Teachers Association, serving as treasurer until her last illness, and had been an Eastern Star. She was active in Cantril Improvement Association and had been involved in numerous other activities.

She is survived by two son, Ben and his wife, Barbara of Cantril and Paul and his wife, Penny of Keota; a daughter, Mary Jo Mertz of Des Moines; seven grandchildren, Amy, Philip, Beth, Matthew and Carrie Morris, Stephanie Fisher and Michael Mertz a great-granddaughter, Sara Fisher, a sister, Pauline Teal of Keosauqua, other relatives and friends.

The service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 1003 at Cantril United Methodist Church, the Rev. Kim Eanes officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril.

Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Cantril Public Library or her church and left at the funeral home.
