Dick V. McGowen

Dick V. McGowen, 75, of 7 Schwartz Dr., Ottumwa, Iowa, died November 30, 1974, at the Ottumwa Hospital.

He was born May 26, 1909, in Davis County, Iowa near Troy to John Victor and Winnie Dunshee McGowen.

He was a Civil Engineer with the Norris Construction Co. of Ottumwa for several years. He was a trustee and member of the First United Methodist Church in Ottumwa, a member of the Iowa Engineering Society and Ottumwa Bird Club.

He was married to Jean Kenney May 28, 1937, in Nevada.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Sharen Whisler of Des Moines, Iowa, and Janet Gillenstedt and husband, Jack, of Alliance, Ohio, five grandsons, Mark Whisler and Richard Whisler and wife, Kristy, of Des Moines, Iowa and Bradley, Steven and Paul Gillenstedt of Alliance, Ohio, and one sister, Helen McGowen of Ottumwa, Iowa.

Committal services were held at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 1984, at the IOOF Cemetery, Bloomfield, Iowa. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Dec. 3, 1984, at the First United Methodist Church in Ottumwa, conducted by Rev. Charles Rinkel, Jr.
