WILLIAM MADDEN

William L. "Max" Madden, 64, of Fairfield died at 6:30 p.m. August 17, 1990, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City.

He was born March 7, 1926, in Milton to Lloyd and Blanche McLeland Madden. He married Elma N. Davis, May 5, 1951, in Douds. She died Oct. 22, 1970.

He was owner and operator of Hometown Dairy in Fairfield for eight years and then moved to Aurora, Colo. and worked for the water department until retiring in 1983. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II and a lifelong Protestant.

He is survived by two daughters, Deborah J. Whitaker of Madison, Ala. and Melissa J. Maynard of Tucson, Arizona; a son, Maynard R. Madden of Harrison, Ark.; two sisters, Dorothy Madden of Terre Haute, Ind. and Lucille Willey of New London; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister, Willa, and a brother, George.

Services were held Tuesday, August 21, 1990 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Fund or the American Cancer Society.
