Rilla Saar McComb

Mrs. Rilla Saar McComb, formerly of Milton, died on Tuesday, April 12, 1983, at Community Convalescent Center, Naperville, Ill.

Mrs. McComb was born Jan. 27, 1893, to John and Estella Saar at Cantril, where she spent her youth and attended the Cantril Public Schools. On Aug. 19, 1917, she was married to Robert Bruce McComb, a Van Buren County teacher. During the following years they lived at Cantril, Douds, Milton, Dubuque and Des Moines, Iowa. Later they live at Alexandria, Minn., Butte, Mont., and Spokane, Wash. After retirement in 1957, they retuned to Milton, where they lived until April, 1982. Since that time they have been in residence at the Fairview Retirement Home in Downers Grove, Ill.

As a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Mrs. McComb took an active part in many of its activities. She also was a member of Chapter AD, Milton, P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Mrs. McComb is survived by her husband, Robert B. McComb, and two sons, Richard B. McComb of Norfolk, VA., and Robert S. McComb of Naperville, Ill., three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Four surviving sisters are Mrs. Bernice Harbidge and Mrs. Ruby Habidge of Ontario, Calif. Mrs. Sara Smythe, Fort Dodge, and Mrs. Marguerite Earenfeight of 29 Palms, Calif. Preceding Mrs. McComb in death were three brothers, John Bennet Saar, Hollis Scott Saar, and Dr. Jesse L. Saar.

A memorial for Mrs. McComb will be held at Milton at a date to be announced later.
