Alfred McDaniel

MILTON - Alfred E. McDaniel, 70, of Milton died of cancer at 1:10 a.m. Dec. 25 at St. Francis Continuation Care Center in Burlington.

He was born Aug. 28, 1909, near Keosauqua to Luther and Nellie Gipson McDaniel. He married Helen Wahl Feb. 13, 1945, at Chicago, Ill. He lived in Chicago for many years and moved to a farm near Pittsburg in 1950. He moved to Milton in 1969 and operated a tavern there until 1977.
Survivors: his wife; his mother, Nellie Willey of Worthington, Minn.; sons Alfred Luther of Derby and LeRoy Fort Madison; a daughter, Mary Ellen Barger of Bethel, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Barbara Jean Carreaveau of Ottumwa; a granddaughter and six step-grandchildren; a brother, Glen of Lake Zurich, Ill.; sisters, Kathrine Hiles and Adele Niermoth of Estherville and Lois Elbert of Estherville, Minn.; and two stepsisters and a stepbrother.

Services: 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, the Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Burial: Purdom Cemetery at Keosauqua.
