Homer R. Lawrence

Homer R. Lawrence was born May 8, 1916, to George and Hazel Lunsford Lawrence in Scotland County and he passed away September 27, 1984, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital.

He attended the Troy and Milton, Iowa schools and was graduated from the Milton High school in 1933.

On July 26, 1936, he was united in marriage to Wilma B. Harris of Bloomfield, Iowa. Two daughters, Nancy and Becky, were born to this union.

He was a long time employee of Harris Motor Co., retiring in August, 1981, as service manage. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Senior Haven Housing for many years and was a member of the Memphis Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Wilma and his mother, Hazel, of Milton, Iowa, two daughters, Nancy and husband, Charles Cook, of Hedrick, Iowa, Becky and husband, Terry Woodruff, of Des Moines, Iowa; one grandson, Scott Woodruff, of Des Moines and a sister, Meryl Arnold, of Downing, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Lawrence and a grandson, Kevin Lee Stephenson.

Homer will be long remembered by his antique clocks and cars.

Services were held at the Payne-Gerth Funeral Chapel, Saturday, September 29, 1984, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Milton Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton, Iowa.
