Gordon Kerby

Gordon D. Kerby, 75, of Milton died at 6:56 p.m. Nov. 19, 1994, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.

He was born March 19, 1919, in Schuyler County, Mo., to Eugene H. and Cuma H. Gosser Kerby. He married Wilma E. Weldon on June 26, 1940, in Kirksville, Mo.

He was a retired farmer and had served on the Milton City Council. He was serving his third term as mayor of Milton. He was a livestock hauler and a member of the Milton Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Mike Kerby of Chesterfield, Va.; four daughters, Linda Melvin of Bloomfield, Nancy Gordon of Phoenix, Ariz., Joyce Seager of Overland Park, Kan. and Karen May of St. Louis, Mo.; his mother of Glenwood; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald Kerby of Glenwood, Mo.; and a sister, Betty Ann Weaver of Glenwood, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services were held Nov. 22, 1994, at the Milton Christian Church with the Milton Christian Church with the Rev. Dale Maloney officiating. Burial was in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

Memorials may be made to the Milton Christian Church or the Sunnyside Cemetery Avenue of Flags.
