Opal M. Jennings

Opal M. Jennings, 83, died August 18, 1988, at 5:20 a.m. at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

She was born Nov. 11, 1904, in Davis county to Martin B. and Mary Anna Simmons Smith. A homemaker and lifelong resident of Davis and Van Buren counties, she was a member of the Mars Hill Christian Church. She married Edward Jennings on dec. 7, 1925, in Bloomfield. He died August 19, 1934.

She is survived by a daughter, Lois Arlene Mincks of Cantril; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ed Smith of Pulaski and Forrest Smith of Bloomfield; and a sister, Alberta Pilcher of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Susan Jane Mincks, in 1960.

The service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 20 at Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, the Rev. Andy Rubenking officiating. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery at Bloomfield.

Memorials may be made to the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital or the Iowa Kidney Foundation.
