Glen S. Hyde

Glen S. Hyde, 85, of Memphis, Mo., passed away at Scotland County Nursing Home, Memphis, Mo., October 9, 1989. Glen was born May 15, 1904, in Van Buren County, Iowa, he was the son of Edwin and Mary Etta Hoskins Hyde.

On July 10, 1923, he was joined in marriage to Vida June Gristy, and to this union seven children were born.

Glen was a lifetime resident of Scotland County, Mo. He operated a general merchandise store of Hitt, Mo., in the 1920's. Mr. Hyde spent the remainder of his years working on various farms in Scotland County, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, three sisters, and one daughter, Jean Lancaster.

Surviving are five sons, James Edward Hyde of Clarksville, Tenn., Bob F. Hyde of Weippe, Idaho, Donald R. Hyde of Kahoka, mo., Josepsh W. Hyde of Ames, Ia., Richard G. Hude of St. Peters, Mo.; one daughter, Marcine Evans of Memphis, Mo.; two sisters, Frankie Cochran and Phoebe Stanford of Marion, Ia. Mr. Hyde is also survived by 20 grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

The family has suggested memorials to American Cancer Society.

Funeral services were held October 12, 1989, at the Payne-Gerth Chapel, Memphis, Mo., with Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiating. Taped organ music was played. Body bearers were James Edward Hyde, Bob f. Hyde, Donald R. Hyde, Joseph W. Hyde, Richard G. Hyde, and G. Hyde Evans. Honorary bearers were Charles Bradley, Gary Wayne Hyde, Bob Riney, Wesley Lay, Paul Burns, Ed Skelton, Dean Ferguson, and Clark Mustoe. Interment was in the Brock Cemetery.
