Helen Hines

Helen Hines, 91, Keokuk, on Monday, Dec. 12, at Keokuk Area Hospital.

She was born May 13, 1897, at Cantril, the daughter of Dr. Gustave A. and Christina Kuebler Thieme.

She married Roy E. Hines, October 6, 1923, Keokuk.

She was a graduate of Cantril High School and the University of Northern Iowa.

Prior to her marriage she was an elementary school teacher for six years in Van Buren County.

Prior to her marriage she was an elementary school teacher for six years in Van Buren County.

She was an active member of 1st Baptist, 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, also the Order of the Eastern Star, also the Order of the White Shrine of Jeruselum, and also the Mary Lee Circle of the Kings Daughters. She was a volunteer nurses aide for the Red Cross during World War II. She was a licensed practical nurse for the Graham Hospital until her retirement in 1958.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. B.J. June Ricker of Warsaw, Mo., one sister, Florence Casady, Burlington, three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded death by her husband in 1972; two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 1:00 p.m. at Schmidt-Vigen Memorial Home, with Rev. M.E. Van Antwerp officiating. Burial will be in Montrose Cemetery in Montrose.
