Nellie Hill

Nellie F. Hill, 87, formerly of Drakesville, died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 1985, at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.

She was born Sept. 24, 1897 to Charles M. and Mary Henderson Piper. She was a member of the Drakesville Christian Church. She had served as mayor of Drakesville, was a former city council member and city treasurer.

She married Guy Hill on Dec. 30, 1914. He died in September of 1970.

Survivors include five daughters, Marie Ingersoll of Emerson, Wash., Lucille Spurgeon of Ottumwa, Irene Bride and Hazel Cruikshank, both of Bloomfield and Christine Herman of Unionville; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Priester Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Quentin Johnson. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service.

Burial will be in Drakesville Cemetery.

Visitation is open.

A memorial has been established to the Drakesville Christian Church.
