HON. GEO. W. WILSON DIED FRIDAY NIGHT

Hon. George W. Wilson, who represented Scotland county in the 49th and 51st General Assemblies, died at his home near Cantril, Iowa in the northeast part of Scotland county [sic], Friday night, May 27th, at eleven o'clock.

Mr. Wilson was well known in the county, having made the campaign and was elected to the Legislature in November, 1916, and in 1920. He was an honorable, upright man, and a man who had many splendid traits of character. He was a friendly and sociable man who would go out of his way to greet a friend, whether rich or poor.

Mr. Wilson was born near Ft. Madison, in Lee county, Iowa, July 4, 1860. He was educated in the public schools of Scotland county and was married August 24, 1884, to Miss Anna Stone.

For most of his life, Mr. Wilson lived on his farm, but about three years ago he moved to Memphis where the family lived about a year, returning to the farm home in 1926, where he lived until [cut-off]

The funeral was conducted at his home by Rev. G. C. Schurmann, a former pastor of the Christian church here, and burial was in the Memphis cemetery.

He was a son of Robert and Mary Wilson, and came to this county with his parents when twelve years of age.

He leaves the widow, Mrs. Geo. W. Wilson, and seven children, five sons and two daughters, his being the first death in the family. The children are: Thane S. Wilson, Arlie L. Wilson, Don U. Wilson, Mrs. Earl Smith, Miss Bernice Wilson, Ward [ ] Wilson, and Byron R. Wilson.

He united with the Mt. Olive M. E. church when a young man, and on moving to Memphis three years ago, placed his membership in the Christian church here, so as to be with his family in church affiliations.
