Glen Gooden

Glen Nicholas Gooden passed away at the Scotland County Hospital, Thursday, June 3, 1976, following an auto accident. He was born March 9, 1905, near Pennville, in Sullivan County, Missouri, the son of Sam and Mary Thompson Gooden.

He married Edith Alma Ruth, in September 1925, and to this union two sons were born, Richard and Robert.

On February 3, 1966, he married Amy Caddell, who was also killed in the accident.

Glen accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour at an early age and placed his membership at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by is parents; and his first wife, Edith.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Richard and Willa Mae of Downing, Robert and Judy Gooden of Memphis; step daughter, Mrs. Floyd(Helen) Baker and husband, Floyd Baker, of Memphis, Missouri; two grandsons, Michael and James Gooden of Downing; two step-grandsons, James Dale Baker and wife Linda, and Floyd Cone Baker and wife Pat of Memphis, Missouri, four step-grandchildren, Melissa Dawn, Shelly Renee, Jamie Sue and Amy Sue Baker; four sisters, Goldie Pendell of Taylor, Missouri, Orpha Phillips of Downing, Cleo Kelley of Prescott, Arizona, and Laura Lord of Liberal, Missouri, one brother, Earl Gooden of Blandensville, Illinois.

Funeral services were held for both Glen and Amy Gooden, Saturday, June 5, 1976, at 2:00 p.m. from the Baptist Church in Downing, with Rev. Lowell Newland officiating, under the combined direction of Payne Funeral Home of Downing and Gerth and Basket Funeral Home of Downing and Gerth and Baskett Funeral Home of Memphis. Interment was in the Downing Cemetery. Singers were Russel Morgan and Johnny Robison and organist was Betty Drummond. Pallbeares were Forrest Jackson, Leland Jackson, Russell Pindell, Darrell Phillips, Dean Lord, Harold Lunsford.
