Hubert Gooden
Hubert E. Gooden, 64, route 2, Bloomfield, died Monday Jan. 23, 1989, at the Davis County Hospital.
He was born March 11, 1924 in Schuyler County, Mo. to Jesse Cecil and Mamie Elizabeth Lasley Gooden. A farmer, he was a member of the Barker United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Susan E. Ball on Aug. 22, 1945 in Scotland County, Mo.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jean Smithburg of Milton and Barbara Sparks of Mystic; three sons, Edward, Jesse and Dean of Bloomfield; 2 grandchildren; four sisters, Nelda Kinney of Downing, Mo. Violet Fulbright of Willard, Mo., Ruth Latta of Eldorado Springs, Mo. and Elma Rippy of Omaha, Neb.; five brothers, Austin of Monte Valley, Mo., Donald of Lancaster, Mo., Hobert of Memphis, Mo., Ronald of Bee, Neb. and Wesley of Nebraska City, Neb.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Barker United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Jerry and Stella Turner. Burial will be in the Barker Cemetery. The Priester Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Barker United Methodist Church or the cancer research unit at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
