Mrs. Schuyler (Velma Mae) Gooden
Velma Mae Gooden was born December 14, 1902, in Appanoose County, Iowa, to Joseph and Clara Belle Yates and died March 25, 1975, at Van Buren Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua, Iowa at the age of 72 years.
She was a member of the Christian Church in Milton, Iowa. A former Milton, Iowa, resident she had been living in Bloomfield, Iowa.
She married Schuyler Gooden August 26, 1931, at Lancaster, Mo. He died April 13, 1970. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Max (Margaret) Silvers of Floris, Iowa, Mrs. Lowell (Betty) Bowling of Winfield, Kansas, and Mrs. Jerry (Mary Lou) Dixon of Bloomfield, Iowa, two brothers, Jim and Phenious Yates, both of Bloomfield, Iowa, two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Saner of Moulton, Iowa, and Miss Lilah Yates of Bloomfield, Iowa, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 29, 1975, at the Milton Christian Church with the Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Interment was in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton, Iowa.
