Esther Gilfillan

BLOOMFIELD - Esther Gilfillan, 77, died Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Webster City, after a lengthy illness.

She was born at Trenton Aug. 24, 1898, to Dr. Homer John Sr. and Clara Moon Gilfillan. A Webster City resident 10 years, she was a member of the United Methodist Church.

She was a graduate of the University of Iowa, and had taught school at Chicago Heights, Ill., about 10 years.

Surviving are three brothers, Dr. Earl Gilfillan and Dr. Homer John Gilfillan Jr.., both of Bloomfield, and Dr. Edwin O. Gilfillan of Englewood, Fla.; and one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Mahannah of Spirit Lake.

The service was held this morning at Wagler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Galen Peckham officiating. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery at Milton.
