Earl S. Gilfillan

Earl Gilfillan, son of John Samuel and Edith Susan Kildoo Gilfillan, was born January 17, 1906 in Van Buren County, Iowa and passed away Monday, April 21, 1980, at his home.

He married Gertie Lancaster on September 22, 1929.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and one brother, Brice.

Surviving are, his daughter, Betty Derksen and husband Donald; grandson, Kelly and granddaughter, Lisa, of O'Fallon, Missouri; grandson, Kevin Derksen and wife, Mona and great-granddaughter, Terra Lynn, of St. Charles, Missouri.

Also surviving is Pauline Dalton, his faithful companion for many years, her daughter, Ava Probst, whom he reared and thought of as a daughter and her husband, Julian, and their three sons, Michael, Danny, David, whom he regarded as grandsons. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Loreta Gilfillan, Myrtle McIntosh, and Emma Lancaster, one brother-in-law, Gale Lancaster and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 23, 1980, at 1 p.m. in the Payne-Gerth Funeral Chapel, Memphis, Missouri. Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiated. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery. Body bearers were Hillis McClamroch, Mike Myers, Charles Myers, Glen Myers, Sterling Forrester, and Sydney Moore.
