Virginia May Gaffney

Mrs. Virginia May Gaffney, 60, of 211 Avenue G, in Fort Madison died at 4:59 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, 1985 in University Hospital, Iowa City. She had been ill for one week.

Mrs. Gaffney was born Oct. 25, 1924 in Burlington. She had spent most of her life in Fort Madison and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. On May 20, 1946, at Fort Madison, she was married to Harold Gaffney, who survives. Harold is the brother of Dola Gaffney Bletzer, formerly of Milton.

Also surviving are two sons, Harold Jr. (Bud) of fort Madison and Jerry, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Peggy) Stillwagon of Fort Madison, and Mrs. Michael (Kelly) Ort of Sparland, Ill,; her Mother, Mrs. Mabel Burk Hawkins of Lodi, Calif.; two brothers, Stanley Hawkins of San Jose, Calif. and Phillip Hawkns of Fremont, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Donna) Reuck of San Jose and six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Hawkins.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the Barr Memorial Chapel with the Rev. L. Duane Churchman officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.

A memorial was established. Contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
