INDEPENDENCE

Julia Irene Elderton, 73, longtime resident, died Monday in Peoples Nursing Care Center, Independence, after a lengthy illness.

Surviving are a daughter, Donna Kunz of Emmettsburg; a stepson, Robert Elderton of Bloomington, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Mary Wiard of Temple Hills, Md.; two sisters, Hazel Sargeant of Nashua and Mary Gates of Independence; two brothers, Earl Metcalf of Cedar Falls and Forrest Metcalf of Urbana; one grandson, seven step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, First United Methodist Church, Independence. Friends may call anytime after noon today. White's, Independence, is in charge of arrangements.
