Robert C. Elderton, 95, died Monday in East Towne Manor, where he had resided for about three weeks.

He was Buchanan County welfare director from 1936 until retiring in 1964. He was also a professional golfer and the club pro at Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo for several years.

Survivors include his wife, Julia; a son, Robert of Bloomington, Ill.; a daughter, Mary Wiard of Temple Hills, Md.; a stepdaughter, Donna Kunz of Emmetsburg; a sister, Marion Elderton of Rydal, Pa.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were Wednesday at White's. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery.
