Irma Grace Enness

Irma Grace Enness, daughter of Francis Marion Aylward, adn Cannarissa Ellen Aylward, was born March 29, 1893, near Brock, Missouri, and departed this life at Monteobello Manor, Hamilton, Illinois, on April 9, 1979.

On April 22, 1917, she was united in marriage to J. Robert Enness of Milton, Iowa, and to this union was born two daughters, Mrs. Billy Stice (Ellen) of Dallas City, Illinois, and Mrs. Miles Chancellor (Bobbie) of Memphis, Missouri. Besides the daughters and their husbands, she is survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Irma, or Peggy, as she was known to her friends, was one of nine children, with a sister, Mrs. Pearl Shelley and a brother, Jess Aylward, surviving. Those who preceded her in death were Della Rugh, Mae McDaniel, and infant sister and Lloyd, Roy and John. Also three half-sisters, Edna Crabbs, Emma Stoner, and Mrs. A.E. Cunningham.

Irma spent her entire life around the Memphis area and before her marriage she taught in the rural schools of Scotland County. Her greatest concern was the welfare of her friends and neighbors and she was always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need.

Funeral services were conducted by D.W. Payne & Sons from the Gerth Chapel, Wednesday, April 11, 1979, at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiating. Pall bearers were Marion Aylward, Lee Aylward, Dean Simerl, Emmet Holton, Harold Davis, and Mike Aylward. Interment was in the Memphis Cemetery, Scotland County, Missouri. Organist was Mrs. Nancy Harris.
