Vernon Dellinger

Vernon Dellinger died April 3o, 1979 while driving his car in Ft. Madison. The car Dellinger was driving reportedly struck a parked car, backed up and struck another parked car which was pushed into another car. Dellinger slumped back into the seat when witnesses approached. They pulled him from the car and administered First Aid until firemen arrived with a resuscitator. He was taken to the Hospital where he was pronounced dead of an apparent heart attack at age 59.

Vernon was the son of Lera Cles and Ralph Dellinger, born March 17, 1920. He was a member of the Milton United Methodist Church, veteran of World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars of Memphis, and a member of the American Legion at Milton. He had worked at various occupations, cook and security guard among his most recent jobs. He was a Security Guard at the Freuhauf Co. in Fort Madision at the time of his death. He is survived by aunts and uncles. Graveside servoces were held at 10:30 Thursday morning, May 3 in Sunnyside Cemetery, with the Rev. Ed Kail officiating, with military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
