Rev. Harold Day

The Rev. Harold Day, 78, of 1401 N. Court St. died at 5:52 p.m. Aug. 19 in Ottumwa Hospital.

He was born Aug. 29, 1903, in Davis County to Jacob and Belle John Day. He attended Davis County schools, Parsons College and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. He taught in Davis and Van Buren county schools and was a mail carrier in the Troy, Floris and Lockridge areas. A minister for 40 years, he served Floris Baptist Church, Prairie Flower Baptist Church in Washington and North Court Baptist Church in Ottumwa. He was a member of the Floris Baptist Church. He married Daisy V. Brooks on May 14, 1924, in Bloomfield.

Survivor: his wife.

Service: 2 p.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. Bernard Tucker of Floris Baptist Church officiating. Burial: IOOF Cemetery, Troy.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. Saturday.
