Daisy Day

OTTUMWA - Daisy V. Day, 91, formerly of 1401 N. Court, died at 3:38 a.m. Oct. 9, 1995, at Vista Woods Care Center.

She was born Feb. 14, 1904, in Van Buren County to John and Edith Nason Brooks. She married the Rev. Harold Day on May 24, 1924, in Bloomfield. He died Aug. 19, 1982.

She was a charter member of North Court Baptist Church, which she and her husband founded in 1945. She graduated from Troy High School and attended college at Parsons College in Fairfield, Drake University in Des Moines, and William Penn College in Oskaloosa. She taught school in Davis, Van Buren and Wapello counties. She did home instruction for elementary and junior high grades in Ottumwa from 1963 to 1980.

She is survived by a brother, Rex Brooks of Prairie Village, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George and Peter Brooks; and a sister, Bessie Rector.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. Roger Hemmings of North Court Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Troy I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Troy.

Visitation will be open after 9 a.m. Wednesday; the family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

A memorial has been established to North Court Baptist Church.
