E.E. White Dies At 84

Edgar Ellis White, 84, 105 W. Grimes, died Friday at 5:45 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital where he had been a patient only three hours.

White was Fairfield's first city park custodian. Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Weida officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

White was born Nov. 13, 1890 at East Lynn, Ill., the son of Lewis and Elsie Nihart White. He was married to Ada May Davis May 10, 1914. They moved to Iowa in 1916 where he farmed in Jefferson and Van Buren Counties.

White was named park custodian in 1936, serving in that capacity until his retirement April 1, 1966. He was honored by the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce in 1966 fo rhis long service to the community.

White was a member of the United Methodist Church. Surviving are his widow and two brothers, Rufus and Cecil White, both of California. Two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
