Charles A. Myers

Charles A. Myers was born December 24, 1884, at Mount Zion and departed this life Thursday, June 17, 1971, at the Good Samaritan Center in Ottumwa at the age of 86.

On March 28, 1937, he was married to Jennie Morrow. She remains to cherish his memory, along with a brother and three sisters.

Mr. Myers was a lifetime employee of the Rock Island railroad, and lived in the Mt. Zion and Douds communities most of his life. He retired as section Foreman at Douds and in 1956 moved to Fairfield.

He attended the Fairfield Free Methodist Church, so long as his health permitted.

He will be remembered as a loving and faithful husband and a man of good will and industry, whose friendly manner was appreciated by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19, 1971, at 2 p.m. at Christ Methodist Church in Douds, with the Rev. Keith Winrich, pastor of the Batavia Full Gospel Lighthouse, officiating. Vocalists were John Finney and Mrs. Robert Pedrick. Kathleen Pedrick was the organist. Pall bearers were Lester Hootman, Frank Hootman, Maurice Rump, Jesse Hissem, Donald Harryman and David Rambo. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds.
