Charles W. Puffinbarger

Charles W. Puffinbarger, 88, of 116 S. Birch, Ottumwa, died Tuesday, May 25, at 9:35 a.m. at Ottumwa Hospital following an illness of one month.

A retired farmer, he was born Sept. 21, 1882, in Van Buren County, the son of Steven and Rebecca Dillion Puffinbarger. He had been a resident of Ottumwa since 1940.

He was married to Josephine M. Jones on Dec. 24, 1907, in Ottumwa. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Albert Puffinbarger of Ottumwa, and Ralph Puffinbarger of Kirkville; four daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Kenning, of Ottumwa, Mrs. Alice Zuehlke of Fairfield, Mrs. Lorean Reish of Hedrick and Mrs. Gladys Myers of Rock Is (missing) and nineteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five sons, two daughters, and a sister.

Funeral services were Thursday, May 27, at 1 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Kermit Black of Batavia officiated. Burial was in the Passmore Cemetery in Van Buren County.

Pallbearers were Gary and Mike McDonough, Gerald and Kenneth Kenning, James Meredith, and Dick Puffinbarger.

The casket was closed at the beginning of the services.
