Mrs. Clarence Wiley

Mrs. Clarence Wiley, 79, of Douds, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 1 at Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua, where she had been a patient most of the time since March.

She ws Ruth Humphrey, daughter of Silas and Lottie McBride Humphrey, and was born May 24, 1892, near Lebanon. She was married Nov. 24, 1914, to Clarence Wiley, who survives. All of their married life was spent on the same farm south of Douds. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and a past chief of Douds Temple, Pythian Sisters.

Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Mrs. Logan Kann and Mrs. Eugene Kemp of Fairfield and Miss Jo Ann Wiley at home; a sister, Mrs. Ivadel Carnahan of Cantril; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. A twin sister and a brother preceded her in death.

The service was Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home. The Rev. Millard Marshall and the Rev. Willis Grant officiated Burial was in Leando Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Heart Fund.
