Mrs. Nelson Ramsey

Mrs. Ruth E. Ramsey, daughter of James and Loretta Hewitt Steele, was born March 27, 1892, near Lebanon and departed this life Wednesday May 19, 1971, at the Hainline Nursing Home in Bonaparte at the age of 70.

On January 28, 1916, she was married to Nelson Ramsey. They spent their life in Van Buren County, and in 1936 moved to their farm home northwest of Kilbourn, where she lived until failing health made to necessary for her to leave the farm.

Mr. Ramsey passed away in 1962. A son, Burr, also preceded her in death.

Remaining to cherish her memory are a son, Charles Ramsey of Phoenix, Arizona, three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Gilbert and Mrs. Kathryn Schafer, both of Birmingham and Mrs. Beulah Morrow of Ottumwa, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a brother, Rex Steele of Redding, California, other relatives and many friends. Mrs. Ramsey was a long-time member of the Kilbourn Ladies Aid, and will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother.

Funeral services were held Saturday may 22, 1971 at 10 A.M. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Millard Marshall of the Keosauqua Congregational Church officiating. Jon Finney was the organist. Pall bearers were Fred Bauman, William Sherod, Fred Moore, Dean Topping, Berdott Grubbs and John Taylor. Interment was in the Kilbourne Cemetery.
