Ray Kisling

Ray Kisling of 35038 Cedar, Yucaipa, Calif. 92399 passed away at age 77 on Tuesday, March 30.

Harvey Raymond Kisling was born at Pulaski, Davis County, Iowa on February 20, 1894; the son of George Talbott and Mary Maude (Grade) Kisling.

ON April 15, 1915 he married Jessie Genevieve Franklin who preceded him in death on January 2, 1950. Six children were born to this union. Ray spent much of his life in Van Buren County, moving to California during World War II to work in the shipyards. In later years he operated a pet shop in the Los Angeles area. Upon retirement 6 years ago he moved to Yucaipa, Calif. He was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Surviving are his widow, Janice M. three sons and three daughters - Inor, of Los Angeles, Mrs. Homer (Yuna May) Silvers of Calimesa, Mrs. Caroline Ashley of So. Pasadena, Glen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Everett of So. Pasadena and Mrs. Thomas (Elizabeth) Benge of Los Angeles. There survives a step-son Gary Hoggatt of Virginia and a step-daughter Mrs. Marilyn Day of Yucaipa. Also mourning the loss of their beloved "Grandpa" are 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. There are several nieces, nephews, and cousins in Iowa.

Both of Ray Kinsling's grandfathers Daniel Kisling and Joseph C. Grade, were in the Northern Missouri Home Guard and were in the "Battle of Athens" on the Iowa - Missouri border in the Civil War.

Services were held on Thursday, April 1 at Hughes Memorial Chapel, Yucaipa with burial following at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Calimesa Calif.
