Clarence W. Blackburn

Clarence William Blackburn, 91, died at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, at Graham hospital, in Keokuk, where he had been a patient for the past six weeks.

He was born in Charleston, Ill., Jan. 23, 1880, the only child of Stephen Henry and Marion Marshall Blackburn. Mr. Blackburn never married.

He moved to Bonaparte with his parents when he was a small child. He spent his childhood here and was graduated from high school. Mr. Blackburn attended business college in Pittsburgh, Pa. he returned to Bonaparte and worked in the Meek's Brothers Mills until the mills closed. He lived in Ottumwa and Wichita, Kans. after that. Upon retirement, he lived in Canton, Mo. at the home of his cousin, Mrs. Charles Constantz. Mr. Blackburn was a frequent visitor at the Edith M. Baker home in Keokuk and had a host of friends in Keokuk. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church.

He is survived by several cousins.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the United Presbyterian Church in Bonaparte. The Rev. Edward Maus officiated. Burial was in the Blackburn family lot in the Bonaparte Cemetery. The Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington was in charge of arrangements.

Relatives and friends attending the service were from Burlington, Keokuk, Iowa; Quincy, Ill.; Canton and LaGrange, Mo., and Denver, Colo.
