Mrs. August Pollpeter

Mrs. August (Minnie) Pollpeter, 74, of West Point, died Friday, April 2, at 1:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart hospital, Fort Madison. She had been ill one week.

She was born Sept. 23, 1896 at West Point, a daughter of Herman and Mary Snaadt Lohman.

A life resident of West Point, she married August Pollpeter on June 5, 1923 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Point. He survives.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Point, and its Altar and Rosary Society.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Ralph of Normal, Ill., Elmer of Burlington, Dennis of Fort Madison and Donald of West Point two daughters, Mrs. H.O. (Marjorie) Johnson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Sister Ann Pollpeter, of the Order of FSPA at LaCrosse, Wisc.; four brothers, Clem Lohman, Herman Lohman, both of West Point, Joseph Lohman of Geneseo, Ill., and Carl Lohman of Elkhart, Ind.; four sisters, Miss Rose Lohman, Miss Dorothy Lohman, both of West Point, Miss Agnes Lohman of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Donald (Mae) Smith of Bonaparte; 28 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, April 6, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Point. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, West Point. The Rev. Francis Lenoch officiated. The Link Funeral Home at West Point was in charge of arrangements. The Rosary was said there Monday at 3 p.m. by the Altar and Rosary Society and at 8 p.m. by the parish followed by the Knights of Columbus.
