Mrs. Cassie L. Carson

Cassie L. Carson, daughter of Dr. Henry and Rachel Howe, Herriford, was born Jan. 3, 1887, at Greensburg, Mo., and departed this life Sunday, Jan. 10, 1971 at Mercy Hospital in Davenport at the age of 84.

Her father was a pioneer physician in Leando, and most of her life was spent in the Douds-Leando community.

On Sept. 13, 1911, she was married to William A. Carson, who for many years was a Douds banker. He preceded her in death in 1967. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Mrs. Eva Elsensohn and a grandson, David Carson.

Remaining to cherish her memory are two sons, William of Davenport and George of Milan, Ill.; daughters, Edna and Geneva Carson; two grandchildren, William Carson and Marie Ruggirello, and two grand-grandchildren.

Mrs. Carson was a long-time member of Twin City Chapter No. 258, Order of the Eastern Star at Douds and was a Methodist. Her primary interests in life were her home and her family, and to these she was very devoted.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1971 at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Willis Grant, United Methodist pastor officiating. Members of Celestial Lodge No. 413, A.F.&A.M. served as pallbearers. Interment was in the Leando Cemetery.
