Leland Parish

Leland W. Parish, 73, died at 6:35 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11 at Bloomfield Silver Haven after a lengthy illness. He was an electrician with the Mississippi Light & Power Co. of Keokuk for more than 30 years.

He was the son of Roswell and Antinsie Parsons Parish, born in Clark County, Mo., on June 28, 1897. A resident of Keokuk for more than 30 years, he had been a Bloomfield resident for three years. He was a World War II veteran and was affiliated with the Masonic Lodge and the Eagles at Keokuk.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Grace Adams of Bloomfield and Mrs. Lucy Chamberlain of Mount Sterling; three brothers, Elmer of Bloomfield, Ray and Charley, both of Mount Sterling. Four brothers preceded him in death.

The service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the United Methodist Church at Mount Sterling conducted by the Rev. Herbert Phillips, assisted by the Rev. Claire Shupe. Burial was in the Harness Cemetery, near Mount Sterling.
