Died, at her home in Leando, January 6, 1906, Mrs. Hannah Finney, aged 69 year, 8 nmonths and 9 days. The funeral took place from her late residence Monday, January 29, 1906. The Rev. G. W. Barber, of Unionville, conducting the service, assisted by Rev. Berg.
Hannah Newman was born in Adams Co. Ohio, May 17, 1836. She grew to womanhood in the state of her nativity and came to Iowa in 1855. She was united in Marriage to Elijah H. Finney in Jefferson County, September 10, 1857. To this union were born three sons and three daughters. Of these, three sons survive her- Charles W. and Elmer H. Finney of Eldon, and Orville A. Finney of Bonaparte. The daughters preceeded her in death, one having died in infancy, and Mrs. Verdie Pollock and Mrs. Effie Clark in recent years. After her marriage, they settled on a farm in Jefferson County, near Libertyville, where they made their home until sixteen years ago, when they moved to Leando, where they resided until her death. At the age of sixteen years she untied with the Methodist Episcopal Church, and lived a consistent Christian life, leaving a hallowed influence in the memory of all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, three sons and ten grandchildren. Her body was laid to rest in the Winsell Cemetery in Jefferson Coounty, near the farm home, where she resided for many years. Mrs. Finney was one of the early settlers who helped to mould the life of the generation in which she lived and of those following, that makes possible our present Christian civilization, and to whom the young men and women of today owe a great debt of gratitude.-Contributed
