Neil D. Newlon

Neil D. (Dick) Newlon, 62, a retired farmer and carpenter, died in his sleep early Wednesday, Dec. 9 at his home in Cantril. He had been in failing health 15 months.

The son of Charles and Minnie McCash Newlon, he was born Dec. 23, 1907, near Bonaparte. On Jan. 4, 1930, he was married to Myra McEldowney. They lived a year in Des Moines then moved to the Lebanon community. They moved to the Lebanon community. They moved to Cantril in 1967.

Surviving are his widow, two sons, Charles and Jack, both of Keosauqua; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Plowman of Smyrna, Ga., Mrs. Katheryn Relph of Russell and Mrs. Delores McGrath of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; a brother, Horace, of Fort Madison, and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Sattler of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

The funeral service was held Sunday, Dec. 13 at 2:30 p.m. at the Lebanon United Methodist Church. The Rev. Herbert Phillips and the Rev. Willis Grant officiating. Burial was in Lebanon Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.
