Weldon J. Lee

Weldon J. Lee, 71, Keosauqua automobile dealer since 1945, died suddenly of a heart attack at 5:30 p.m. Monday in his Oldsmobile garage in downtown Keosauqua. He had not been ill previously.

The son of Marion and Mary Lee, he was born Sept. 21, 1899 near Keosauqua and attended Keosauqua schools. He married Nina DeHart Feb. 19, 1922 at Keosauqua.

Mr. Lee worked for the late Fred Rigsby in his Chevrolet business and later was an auditor for the state of Iowa. He operated a Kaiser-Frazer business before taking over the Oldsmobile dealership known as Lee's Sales & Service.

He was a member of the Keosauqua United Methodist Church, Keosauqua Businessmen's Association and the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Willis Watkins of Keosauqua and Mrs. Charles Lepore of Littleton, Colo., seven grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Lee of Seward, Alaska; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Craig of Fairfield, Mrs. Jennie Wilson of Bloomfield, Mrs. Bertha Smith of Ottumwa. One sister preceded him in death.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 8 at 2 P.M. at the Keosauqua Methodist Church. A memorial has been established.
